Moreton Bay OTU Oceanic Cup & Championships - Australia
Both Kelly-Ann and Max delivered strong performances at the OTU Oceania Cup / Olympic Distance Championships at Moreton Bay, near Brisbane.
Kelly-Ann once again led out the swim with a front group of 8 forming for the entirity of the bike. The race would come down to the run which turned into an exciting final lap of shoulder-to-shoulder racing. Kelly-Ann was able to gain a 5m lead in the last 200m, holding and then increasing that in the sprint for the line. Congratulations Kelly-Ann on winning your second Oceania Championship in 8 days, rounding out a very busy month of racing.
Max also found himself in a battle royale. A great swim and he was able to work hard in the lead bike group, with his race also coming down to the run. By the third lap, the group had whittled itself down to 3 athletes, with Max fighting for the win, but not quite having the legs. It was an excellent effort by Max finishing with a hard fought second at the finish tape.
Walliseller Triathlon - Switzerland
Julie and Philipp attended the Walliseller Triathlon but because of a cold snap and some snow it was transformed into a duathlon. Julie adapted well and had an exciting three way tussle right down to the finish line where she out sprinted her rivals to take the win.
Philipp struggled in the cold conditions, with a difficult T2, but managed to finish and is looking forward to making ammends.
Gisela was able to keep warm being the designated swimmer in the Teams Triathlon.., smart thinking Gisela!
Swelly swim conditions greeted our three athletes lining at Costa Navarino for the inaugral 70.3 Greece. The waves made for a challenging sea swim, followed by an honest hilly bike course, and scenic run.
Ivan has a strong race finishing with a super 4th in his category. A great effort, congratulations Ivan!
It was a thrill for Yannis to race a triathlon at his mother's home town. The 2m waves made for a very challenging swim, however once out of the water Yannis was able to really enjoy the magnificent race course and pace himself to a negative split on the run.
For Elena the race was about adapting and overcoming her fear of open water swimming...the tough swim conditions forcing her to face her fears head. Well done Elena for perservering, rewarded with another memorable 70.3 exerience and finish.
Copperlode Cup - Australia
