Last weekend Borris Jung did the 70.3 Kraichgau. It was his first 70.3 this year after some sprint races as warm up in May. Borris had a great day and could improve his personal best for the swim by almost three minutes compared to last year. He had a great bike ride as well. His pacing plan worked out just perfectly and he finished the very selective 90km bike course after 2:32hrs. But he also had a great 1:27 half marathon under very hot conditions! All in all Borris finished the race after 4:37hrs in 12th place in the 35-40 age group. A massive improvement compared to last year! Hard to believe that this is his third triathlon season this year! His next race will be his first full Ironman in Frankfurt in the beginning of July.
Pavel Blagikh did the Ironstar Triathlon in Sochi. It was a race over the 70.3 distance. He struggled a bit during the choppy swim and exited the water after 34min. After a fast transition Pavel could play out his strength on the bike and made his way through the field. 2:26hrs meant the 4th fastest bike split of the day and the fastest in his age group. Only one thing mattered during the run: to survive the heat. Pavel still ran a 1:32 half marathon and finished the race in 7th place overall. This is a very solid start into the 2018 season because the main goal of the year is the 70.3 world championship in September. We still have a lot of time to get even faster!
Very well done both!
